Egbert and Martina van Eik were connected to the Hein group, which operated out of Nijkerk, Gelderland. In the spring of 1942, Martina van Eik recommended to the Jewish Nihom family that they go into hiding. She suggested that they escape to Switzerland, and she even promised to look into this possibility for them. In the end, the plan wasn’t implemented and the Nihoms were hidden instead.
On January 16, 1979, Yad Vashem recognized Egbert van Eik as Righteous Among the Nations.
