Throughout the war, Jacques and Lena Wallega moved between many hiding places, mostly arranged by Leo Linssen*. One of these hideouts was on Petronella Claassens’ farm near Sevenum, Limburg. “She was a good Catholic,” Lena wrote in her testimony to Yad Vashem, “very discreet, and guided by the advice of the parish priest, who supported Mr. Linssen. She gave us two of her rooms and we stayed with her until Christmas 1942.”
On May 3, 1982, Yad Vashem recognized Petronella Claassens-Aerts as Righteous Among the Nations.
