In April 1943, despite being three months pregnant, Mrs. Colthof decided to go into hiding together with her husband. The couple contacted a teacher acquaintance, Anna van der Aa, of St. Oederode, North Brabant, who knew another teacher by the name of Petrus Antonius van den Broek*. Petrus and his wife, Wilhelmina van den Broek-van Lunteren, agreed to provide shelter for the couple. During the ColthofsÂ’ stay at the van den Broeks, Anna supplied the couple with food coupons through her Resistance contacts. She also visited them, brought them books, and provided them with moral support. When Mrs. Colthof gave birth to a baby girl, Anna was there to provide her with everything she needed. After 14 months the Colthofs had to leave the van den BroeksÂ’ home and Anna found them an alternative hiding place.
On February 26, 1974, Yad Vashem recognized Anna van der Aa as Righteous Among the Nations
