They dealt with procuring food cards and fake identity cards for those in hiding, including Jews, and also hid a young Jewish woman named Henny de Liever-van Gelderen in their home. When she came to them in June 1944, she was already in the final months of her pregnancy. In August 1944, she gave birth at their home with the assistance of a doctor. The baby was named Cornelis Delano Franklin. The mother and baby stayed with the Docters until the liberation in April 1945. On April 16, 1978, Yad Vashem recognized Cornelis Docter and his wife, Hendrika Docter-van Dorsten, as Righteous Among the Nations.
